What is the OG Approach

Multisensory

We will use visual, auditory, kinesthetic (movement), and touch for learning

Phonemic-alphabetic

We will make connections from the written symbols to the auditory sounds of the English language

Synthetic-analytic

We will go in the opposite direction and go from the sounds, determining the written symbols that encode them. We’ll also take whole words and analyze the sounds that make up the words

Structured

We will go through the material in an organized manner using previously learned material and relate it to the new learning

Sequential

We will go from simple concepts to more complex ones, mastering each of theconcepts step by step

Repetitive

We will promote word recognition, reading fluency, and reading comprehension using plenty of repetition

Cumulative

We will build new skills based upon the previous ones mastered

Cognitive

We will work on learning and understanding the rules of our language and how to apply those learned skills for the student to become a proficient reader and an accurate speller.

Diagnostic

We will continually monitor the student’s progress to assess areas of need and responsiveness to instruction.

Prescriptive

We will use the diagnostic information to drive the subsequent lesson planning to best
target and promote resolution to the student’s areas of need.
